  I was assigned a lawyer through this program and the lawyer took my case. After the 1st court session he told me he might have elective surgery and might not be able to continue the case. I called every day for the 2 weeks before the court date and he didn't return the call or tell me he was off the case. On the Friday before my court date of a Monday, I get another lawyer assigned to my case. I did not waive my rights to a speedy trial until this new lawyer told me she needed time. The first lawyer failed completely as a competent lawyer and if you've got the money, FIND A DIFFERENT LAWYER who will not abandoned you the day before your court date.
